[nablopomo] The state of the Natalie

I managed almost 5 hours sleep tonight. I sense a nap in my day later - I am shattered!

Whether it is arthritis, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, the cold, random MonSter aches or whatever, all of my finger joints HURT! About a five on the 1 to 10 scale. Nothing else really hurts today (other than the headache and neck ache that go with the cough/cold that I have) and so I guess I have got of medium to light for today.

I have made this entry public in the spirit of NaBloPoMo and blogging. That means that I am whinge-ing less than I possibly would in a friends-only (FO) post. I am also rambling less than I might.

One thing that I have notices with NaBloPoMo is that I am writing more in my livejournal (LJ). I am back to roughly where I was years ago when I used to almost *live* on LJ and write many small posts throughout the day. I would love to be able to write one long and detailed post like many other bloggers do but this is how my brane works these days and so I guess we are stuck with it!

This entry is brought to you by the number PAIN icon (pain icon)
and the letter ill skeleton icon (ill skeleton icon).

I can relate to your decision as to whether to write many shorter posts throughout the day, or one long one. For right now, I lean more towards the longer one writing about the entire day (or so).

Sometimes I think it would be eaiser to do the shorter ones, which are more immediate and there would be more of them. I also get very overwhelmed when I have allowed too much time to go by and don't quite know how to write when it gets to be too much stuff.

With me it is more about having to be more gentle in my public posts than in my FO posts and about subject matter. I have pretty much always made a post most days, even if they are only tiny and only one per day. I also have this inner voice adding 'rules' to things like NaBloPoMo like:

You must write two pages (printed on A4), single spaced, be fascinating, not whine...

...and so on. I constantly have to remind myself that NaBloPoMo just says to make one post per day - nothing about the content of the post is defined! ;-p

I also post a lot of comments. I wish that there was a way to combine all comments into a post! ;-p
This is a start but is dynamic...

You and I may be made out of the same cloth... You do something correctly (yeah -- two pages, shiny paper, no typos, perfect sentences and paragraphs), or not at all. Blogging is not necessarily about that. Yet, I use this medium for writing practice, so I do want to at least *try* to do it "right". *g*

You're right about comments... Sometimes good ideas come from them and need to be combined as part of my own "blogging". Sometimes, however, comments are personal to the other person and do not belong outside of the other "friends onlyl" journal.

We do, indeed, seem to be 'over achieving' perfectionists! ;-p

I do copy/paste some comments into private entries here but make some FO or public, depending on where they come from. If they come from a public source and/or I have permission then I post them anonymously and/or publicly, depending on circumstances.
