Daily Science Fiction :: Lost Art by John Mile Deisinger

Story Comments: This story came to me out my experiences with tutoring. I've often wondered if society might reach a point when things like conversation and human interaction might need to be taught to students alongside algebra and grammar. This story portrays a scenario that seems to me fairly plausible, sitting here as I am tapping away on my smartphone.

I see this scenario as definitely plausible and already happening. I will be honest, though, and say that I am personally better off with conversation/interaction in writing because I can always re-read something in SMS/email/writing. My flaky memory and aspie-like preference for written communication means that I am not at all scared or repelled by this inevitable future.
