If you think of what kind of pressures that occur in the barrel of a gun to project a bullet to around 1200 metres per second, I can't imagine that the plastic material used in a 3D printer could possibly hold up without failure.

Yeah this was covered in an episode of CSI: New York (the last one?) where the polymer used was metallic and plastic in some way but the gun still exploded after two or three shots and the gunman suffered a lot of shrapnel injury.
