"Making Light: Two hundred yards to safety, death was fifty yards behind"

In a decent society, firefighters would have yachts and country homes, while bankers would scrape from paycheck to paycheck.

Making Light: Two hundred yards to safety, death was fifty yards behind

Spotted via Bluejo's Journal - Yarnell Fire: Secular Humanist Comfort where Jo posts a secular poem in memoriam for the nineteen firefighters that died recently fighting a fire in Yarnell, Arizona. I have not seen any more about this latter fire but feel free to comment with links and I will add them to the main post.
