EDITED: I write like …?

UPDATE: edited to remove the URLs for this meme/quiz/scam because it seems to give random results and only be there to advertise their software and vanity press.

I write like
Stephen King

I Write Like by some site advertising a vanity press - the scammers!

Unsurprising having read a lot of his writing (as well as that of other authors) including "On Writing". I do wonder what other authors they use for this, though. I used the first few paragraphs of my NaNoWriMo 2009 manuscript for this. Maybe I could try it with a longish blog post or something?

I write like
Margaret Atwood

Using a blog post that I cannot actually find on my LiveJournal about a note to my 15 year old self. I have never read any of her work. Another one?

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk

This was some paragraphs of a memoir. Another author that I have never read. Strange how I have more than one writing style.

I write like
Leo Tolstoy

One of my recent poems. I did not know that Tolstoy wrote poems as well as LONG novels!

I write like
Kurt Vonnegut

Another memoir. Another author that I have read a lot of. I have multi-writer personality disorder! ;-p

I write like
Dan Brown

Hmmm. How can another memoir be written in the style of a different author? I wonder how this meme/quiz actually works. Probably just word and phrase searches.

ETA: An LJFriend who is a published author posted the following and I think she may be onto something here. I agree with her completely:

I don't want to write like anyone else because I am happy writing like
me

ROFL! ;-p

LOL! I gave it a try, I came out with

http://iwl.me/s/32618206 (J.K. Rowling) & http://iwl.me/s/cfe99843 (Dan Brown)

As far as ending up with different writers, it does make sense (unless it gives two different ones for the same text) because you can have a different style depending on what type of writing you're trying to do.

Played around with it a few more times and got:

J.K. Rowling again (different story), Dan Brown again (different story), http://iwl.me/s/24f9d4c2 (Charles Dickens), http://iwl.me/s/b3a26720 (Stephen King), & last but not least http://iwl.me/s/d760c1b4 (James Joyce)
