Who are you?

Who are you?
Take this question any way you want.

Who am I?
  • I am me.

  • I am who I am.

  • I am a puffin, as an avatar, almost everywhere online.

  • I am a person with multiple sclerosis (PwMS).

  • I am retired (as in "unable to work" but not as in "receiving a retirement pension").

  • I am a knitter.

  • I am married.

  • I am a kitteh-mummy/minion of two kittehs.

  • I am a reluctant daughter of a dysfunctional family.

  • I am a sister of one amazing younger brother.

  • I am a World of Warcraft player — mainly Alliance side, mainly Night Elf Hunter or DeathKnight.

  • I am a sometimes writer, as yet unpublished anywhere other than teh intarwebz.

  • I am more at home online than with people face-to-face.

  • I am British, white, female and married — yet, at the same time, I am so much more than that.

  • I am educated and have postgraduated (BSc Biochemistry and MSc Information Technology).

  • I am "The pedantic proofreader/copy-editor from heck!" and "The pedantic website/software tester (QA/usability/accessability) from HECK!"

  • I am an ex-programmer and designer of software and websites.

  • I am not the person that I was because the MonSter (multiple sclerosis) is stealing my abilities one by one far earlier than old age would.

  • I am no longer a cyclist, trampolinist and trampoline coach. I am, instead, a person that misses that part of my past (as well as so many others).

  • I am finding my way as a different person despite the multiple sclerosis and despite losing the abilities and hobbies to the MonSter.

  • I am a medicated person. Medications for clinical depression, various symptoms of M.S., a disease modifying drug (DMD) injection every day in the hope that it will slow and lessen the M.S. and medications for other things such as migraines. I rattle.

  • I am too hot right now. 30°C and 35% humidity here at my desk.

  • I am happiest when able to take photos.

  • I am not the messed up girl that I was at 18 or even at 30 when the MonSter was diagnosed. Finally at 42 I am (almost) happy with who I am.

  • I am less happy with not being able to do the things that I would like to do, but I am managing to do the things that I can do and I am growing more contented with that.

  • I am beginning to realise that "happy" is not the same as "ecstatic" or "gleeful" and am coming to realise that "happy" is closer in meaning to "calm and contented".

  • I am okay.

  • I am going to be okay.

  • I am sure that I have forgotten many other things that I am.

  • I am going to do this on my journal. ;-p
