BBC News - Today - Lovelock: 'We can't save the planet'

Further to my post about Douglas Adams' take on global warming, Professor James Lovelock (who proposed the Gaia Theory originally) has a lot to say on the matter, for example:
we can only hope that the earth will take care of itself in the face of completely unpredictable climate change

BBC News - Today - Lovelock: 'We can't save the planet'

Trying to save the planet is a lot of nonsense!

*nods* I wish this man have the ear of more of the world than he does. Please, watch the videos of his interview and/or listen to the full broadcast interview.

Yes, I wish we could stop species from becoming extinct. I will miss them when they do. That said, I would have missed the Sabre Toothed Tiger and Dinosaurs had I been alive when they became extinct. Sentimentality is not scientific. I feel it but realise that it is not practical. Your Mileage May Vary but this is what I think and feel.
