Bloodtest for MS?!

I have recently seen someone being told that a blood test shows they have multiple sclerosis (MS).

This has confused me - I knew that the researchers had been trying to find a bloodtest for MS but understood that, to date, none was possible - that the only way of diagnosing / detecting MS was through a combination of lumbar puncture / spinal tap, MRI of the brain / spine and medical history showing more than one 'event' of MS symptoms in more than one part of the body.

Am I wrong? Has a bloodtest been developed that is in use in the US that I (in the UK) have not heard about?
